A little about ME

So, I'm sitting here wondering what I could possibly write on my new blah, blah, blah, blog.  First things first:  I am Lisa.  Wife of Pete.  Mother of four little cherubs -- 2 boys, 2 girls.  First came our oldest son, D.  Then came the other 3 exactly 2 years later.  Triplets.  Crazy, right?  A few years ago, I used to love to tell people that I had 4 babies age 2 and under.  And I used to hate it when people would respond "Oh I'm so sorry"  or "Better you than me."  On the other hand, others would say "You are so blessed!"  And I agree.

But that was a few years ago.  Nowadays, I'm too busy to really care what other people think.  I barely know what I think because my head is full of random disjointed thoughts and processing multiple conversations at once.  Mom, can I have a snack?  Mom, can I go to Amanda's house?  What can I make for dinner tonight?  I have nothing thawed out.  Can't do pasta again.  Mom! Mom!  Make him stop bugging me!  He's watching me read! Make him stop!  Mom, I'm so hungry - Can I have a marshmallow for a snack?  Can I play on the computer?   I'm going to go ride my bike around the park with Collin.  Will you buy Angry Birds on your IPhone?

...And that's just the one minute I try to lock myself in the bathroom for a minute of privacy.

There was a time in Lisa's World when I had all kinds of leisure time.  Lisa's World B.C.  Before Children.  I had a career.  I traveled.  I cooked.  Really cooked, not like tonight's dinner of microwaving hot dogs for the kids.  I was interested in languages and art and history and music and food and travel and the theater.  I remember the very moment I jumped the shark.  It was the time I took the kids to see The Wiggles in concert for the 2nd time.  As I stood in that arena, singing and dancing along to the Wiggles, I realized that day that my life had really changed.  I was no longer the same Lisa.  I was now and forever more just Mom.  Now many people in my circle of acquaintances know me as "D's mom" or "the triplets' mom".  And the thing is, I'm OK with that.   It is only occasionally that I ask myself those existential questions "Who am I?  What is my purpose in life?  What are my passions?  Am I fulfilling my potential?"

So, what better way to self-indulge, do a little self-discovery, and have something that's ALL ABOUT ME than to write a blog?  It's the perfect way to add a little balance to my life.  Most of my day is all about the kids, but when I sit down at the computer and write - it's all about ME, baby.

That's it for my brief introduction.   There's more to come in later blah blah blog entries.
